Funds Flow Monitor offers a novel way to easily monitor and, hence, manage your monthly funds receipts and disbursements. The app’s home page — the “Funds Flow Summaries” page — presents the current month’s calendar with “today” highlighted. On that day, or any day of each month, you can observe from the set of three Summary Bar Charts:

- funding needs
- fund receipts
- fund disbursements

Tap a chart’s column to present a description of the item, or a list of the items comprising transactions (see below). You add or edit transactions by first tapping an “Expected” column.

Select any day on the calendar to look backward or forward from “today” to see funds flow projections for that day of month.

The “Funds Flow Summaries” page summaries are determined from a list of monthly receipt and disbursement transactions. Your list will be a modification (including additions and deletion) of the app-supplied “starter set” of monthly transactions.

Your list should contain all of your expected annual transactions. However, a particular transaction is included in a month’s summary only when that specific month is indicated; the absence of a specific month indicates “monthly.”

Transactions also include an applicable day of month, in one of two ways:

- as a specific day-of-month number
- as a “structured” day-of-month (for example “second Wednesday” or “last Monday”)

Each transaction includes a “typical” and an “actual” amount. The typical amount indicates funds the transaction normally receives or disburses; the amount is used in calculating summaries and projections. The actual amount is normally left empty; however, you can specify an amount when there is a need to override the typical amount. Notice that when both amounts are empty (or 0.00) the transaction is considered a “placeholder” and is not presented on month-to-date receipts outstanding or disbursements listings.

Funds Flow Monitor keeps transactions in a database on your device. Transactions are grouped under a month-year naming scheme (for example “January 2014”). Up to three years of monthly transactions are kept. You can view, but not alter, any previous month’s activity.
